AIRA thesis project

Introducing AIRA the next generation in domestic context renewable energy generation. designed for households and in partnership with SSEG (small scale embedded generation) this system harnesses low lying winds which normally would be ignored, storing energy enough to partially take your house off grid, saving you money and reducing consumption. This is sorely needed within SOUTH AFRICA as Eskom still struggles to provide clean and usable electricity
process runs smoothly in sink with the wind velocity and recycles the system upon use of stored energy. The resultant energy can take your lighting and or small appliances off grid.
A simplistic design made up of a hybrid type turbine system, savonius for low lying winds and to act as a self starting system and a groove turbine for higher wind variants with omnidirectional behavior.
The use of white as a primary turbine cloud is not to make it bland but through research has found to stop the effects of sun based warpage. Neutral colors don't attract sunlight as harshly hence the turbines structure remains rigid.
Unlike solar power, the AIRA turbine is a 24 hour stable system that doesn't stop unless the wind does so whilst you sleep its low noise factor and high output to weight ratio create continuos energy.
In situ turbines are usually mounted on flat surfaced roofs with the addition of a angled ceiling connection as well, to compensate for various roof situations.
The next step in the renewable energy process is automation, a systematic approach to adding simplicity in the household, utilizing an app to the turbine.
The AIRA application allows for simplistic monitoring of the renewable energy system from anywhere provided a wireless signal can be obtained. Tracking the progress and letting you know your remaining time and energy.
With the app integration the iPhone or android application allows for constant monitoring and immediate stop upon problems or completion of the cycle. Going you real time feedback on battery life temperature and weather variations.
Above is the cycle integration into the household, a simplistic system that runs into a set of batteries that sort necessary energy created.
The finalized logo is a symbolic representative of movement, in this sense of the turbines movement with the use of a simple shape to evoke the design. he term "AIRA" refers to of the wind...
Above is a leave behind overview of the thesis project and its potential in field. This is then distributed to clients interested in the product and its background.
Technical drawings sneak peak, part of the immense drawing list. All created on CAD - solid works.
